                  General characteristics of Metaphysical Poetry Introduction      Metaphysical poetry is a little bit different . The poems classified  in this group do share common characteristics : they are all highly intellectualized , use rather strange imagery , use frequent paradoxes and contain extremely complicated thought . However metaphysical poetry is not regarded as a genre of poetry .Metaphysical poetry, prominent in the 17th century, is characterized by intellectual and complex themes, use of conceits, wit, paradoxes, and a blending of emotion and reason. Poets like John Donne and Andrew Marvell often explored spiritual, philosophical, and existential ideas, employing unconventional metaphors to convey profound concepts.
